September 12, 2025

This week students have been working on learning routines and expectations in the classroom. All of our classrooms have been creating or will be creating their Classroom Charter and establishing expectations using our RULER curriculum.

The RULER curriculum focuses on positive social, emotional and cognitive interactions between students. RULER provides a common language for Social Emotional Learning across all grade levels and can be used throughout the day in all content areas including language arts, social studies, math and physical education. Each September students along with their classmates and teachers create classroom charters. The Charter builds and sustains positive emotional climates by creating agreed-upon norms for how people want to feel, as well as how they can help each other to experience those feelings.
Ask your child(ren) at home if they can help you make a Charter for your family . Here is the RULER Skills Overview for Families. This guide will provide you with some additional information about the RULER Curriculum. In addition, the district utilizes social justice standards from Learning for Justice (formerly Teaching Tolerance). These standards are woven into lessons- across each content area and throughout the day.

Important Reminders

Pets on School Grounds
For the safety and comfort of all students, dogs are not permitted on school property. We understand that many children are fearful of dogs, so we kindly ask that you refrain from bringing pets during arrival and dismissal. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Lost and Found
To help us return lost belongings to their rightful owners, please be sure to label all of your child’s items with their full name. Last year, we donated many gently used items—beautiful coats, sweatshirts, and sweaters—to ENKA simply because they were unclaimed. We’d much rather return them to you!
Thank you for your help! 😊
