October 17, 2025

Dear Families,
Thank you so much for joining us for our student-led open house! It was wonderful to see so many of you here celebrating your children’s learning. The pride and excitement the students showed while sharing their work and progress truly made the evening special.
These opportunities help students take ownership of their learning and build confidence in reflecting on their growth. Your support and encouragement make all the difference.
Thank you again for being such an important part of our school community. I am so lucky to partner with all of you. Have an amazing weekend.
Best,
Mrs. Phelan :)

Open House Survey

It was so nice to see you all last night. Please fill out this short survey. Your feedback is appreciated.

DIBELS Grades K-3

Dear Families and Caregivers,
Your child will be coming home with the results of our recent fall early literacy screening for students in grades K-3.
In compliance with Massachusetts regulation 603 CMR 28.03(1)(f), all public schools must assess student reading skills in grades K-3 at least twice a year. Our district uses the mCLASS DIBELS 8th Edition assessment, an approved tool by the MA DESE. DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) is a system of assessments that quickly helps educators determine how students are performing on key reading skills.
We administer this universal screening three times a year—fall, winter, and spring—to identify students who may be at risk for reading difficulties and to guide appropriate reading support. The skills assessed are strong predictors of reading success, and the specific assessments vary by grade level.
You will be receiving the Home Connect report from the fall administration.
  • Composite Score: Look for the color-coded composite score and performance key in the upper right-hand corner. This is an overall score based on the individual subtests listed below it.
  • Informal Recommendations: The second page provides informal recommendations to support your child's learning. Please note that all students are given areas for support, even if they are performing "above benchmark."
This early literacy screener is just one tool we use to measure reading progress compared to grade-level expectations. Like other data points, these scores can fluctuate.
We will administer the updated benchmark assessment again in January and May.
We are partners in your child's learning. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions about this report or their reading progress.

Important Reminders

Pets on School Grounds
For the safety and comfort of all students, dogs are not permitted on school property. We understand that many children are fearful of dogs, so we kindly ask that you refrain from bringing pets during arrival and dismissal. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Lost and Found
To help us return lost belongings to their rightful owners, please be sure to label all of your child’s items with their full name. Last year, we donated many gently used items—beautiful coats, sweatshirts, and sweaters—to ENKA simply because they were unclaimed. We’d much rather return them to you! Please note that all items will be donated at the end of each month.
Thank you for your help! 😊
